"Video Vibration Analysis"

Abe Davis
MIT PhD Dissertation (Winner of the MIT Sprowls thesis award!)

My dissertation, which inscludes much of the work listed below. The document, and code for some of the projects, will be posted late August.

"Interactive Dynamic Video"

"Image-Space Modal Bases for Plausible Manipulation of Objects in Video" (called "Interactive Dynamic Video" in my dissertation)
Abe Davis, Justin Chen, Fredo Durand,
ACM TOG / SIGGRAPH Asia 2015

This paper describes an improved version of the demo I showed at the end of my TED 2015 talk (with some improvements since TED) and demonstrates applications related to low-cost special effects. We are seperately focusing on applications in civil engineering. More info on this work will be released with an MIT press release in the next month or two.

"Smaller Than the Eye Can See: Vibration Analysis with Video Cameras"

Oral Buyukozturk, Justin G. Chen, Neal Wadhwa, Abe Davis, Fr├ędo Durand, and William T. Freeman
19th World Conference on Non-Destructive Testing 2016 (WCNDT), Munich, Germany, June 13-17, 2016

.

"Video Camera-based Vibration Measurement for Condition Assessment of Civil Infrastructure"

Chen, J. G.; Davis, A.; Wadhwa, N.; Durand, F.; Freeman, W. T.; Buyukozturk, O.
International Symposium Non-Destructive Testing in Civil Engineering (NDT-CE 2015)

More work with folks from the Civil Engineering department on NDT of structures.

"Long Distance Video Camera Measurements Of Structures"

Justin G. Chen, Neal Wadhwa, Abe Davis, Fredo Durand, William T. Freeman, Oral Buyukozturk
10th International Workshop on Structural Health Monitoring (IWSHM 2015)

Part of our work with folks from the Civil Engineering department on NDT of structures. I presented this at IWSHM 2015.

Light Field Reconstruction Using Sparsity in the Continuous Fourier Domain

Lixin Shi, Haitham Hassanieh, Abe Davis, Dina Katabi, Fredo Durand, Light Field Reconstruction Using Sparsity in the Continuous Fourier Domain. TOG / SIGGRAPH 2015

New video technology that reveals an object's hidden properties

Abe Davis, TED 2015

This talk covers work from several different publications. Most of the material is from papers linked below, but some of the content at the end is new. More info to come.
